According to KGI Fraser, the STI closed 12.41 points, or +0.4% higher at 3,038.11.
Genting Singapore, which climbed 7%, on the positive highlights from Las Vegas Sands Corp, was the star performer of the index, KGI Fraser said.

U.S. stocks ended sharply higher Thursday, rallying on economic data, better-than-expected earnings and dovish comments from European Central Bank President Mario Draghi.
The Dow advanced 320.55 points, or 1.9%, to 17,489.16. McDonald’s contributed about 54 points to the gains in the blue-chips gauge after reporting better than expected earnings. The S&P 500 index jumped 33.57 points, or 1.7%, to 2,052.51, with only health-care stocks falling, down 0.5%.
