War of the telcos: StarHub swears it offers the best iPhone 5 plans
StarHub responds to SBR's article 'Here's a quick check why M1's iPhone 5 plan is the best value buy'.
Last Monday, October 16, Singapore Business Review ran a story about Phillip Capital's income outlook for M1 while highlighting a table which shows quick comparison of iPhone 5 plan pricing being offered by three giant telcos in Singapore- StarHub, M1 and Singtel.
PhillipCapital concluded that M1 offers the best value buy for consumers across all categories but StarHub objected.
In a letter to Singapore Business Review, Philemon Foo, StarHub Corporate Communications Executive, provided their own calculations and and comparison to highlight that StarHub offers value to its customers in terms of total ownership cost (device + price plan) over two years.
"We would like to add that StarHub’s SmartSurf plans (SmartSurf Lite, SmartSurf Value, SmartSurf Premium and SmartSurf Elite) offer data bundles of 2GB to 12GB, with an option for customers to upsize their respective data bundle by 1GB at a promotional rate of $2.14 monthly. Should they use more than the local data bundle of their mobile plan, excess local data usage will be charged at a promotional rate of $6.42 per GB (Maximum data charge of $64.20 monthly; valid till 31 December 2013)," he said.
