Singapore boasts highest average peak internet connection speed
Its 135.4 Mbps bested Hong Kong’s 101.1 Mbps.
Singapore remains at the top of the world’s average peak internet connection speed game at 135.4 Mbps in Q3, according to a report by content delivery network Akamai Technologies. This also reflects a double-digit quarterly gain of 25%.
Meanwhile, the country’s average internet speed was ranked fourth in the Asia Pacific region at 12.5 Mbps.
South Korea recorded the highest average internet speed in the region and in the world at 20.5 Mbps, despite seeing a 19% YoY drop since 3Q14.
Hong Kong was third in the region at 15.8 Mbps, followed by Japan at 15 Mbps.
The global average connection speed surged 14% YOY and inched up 0.2% QoQ to 5.1 Mbps, while global average peak connection was 32.2 Mbps.
