5G is nigh but only 21% of Singaporean business leaders are ready
Only 21% of Singaporean business leaders said that they were familiar with 5G technology, a Qualcomm study said.
Singaporean business leaders are excited for the 5G rollout, but only a mere 21% said that they are very familiar with this new technology.
This is according to a study commissioned by Qualcomm Technologies, with a respondent pool of 100 Singapore business leaders.
Interest in 5G technology is on the rise in the Lion City, with 74% of business leaders believing that it would make a positive impact on their lives.
However, only 21% said they were very familiar with the new tech, while 43% are only somewhat familiar.
When asked about what they knew about the advantages of 5G technology, 86% cited faster mobile connectivity speeds, 43% said they expect it to drive economic growth, whilst 34% expect the creation of new jobs.
On the other hand, topping the concerns about 5G technology are increased cost of data and individual privacy-related concerns. Some respondents also fear health-related risks and potential job loss.
Around 69% of the respondents believe that 5G will be available to them in two years or less.
