70% of Singaporeans feel alone
And all Singaporeans surveyed believed that face to face conversations were more effective than SMS.
That is despite having a thousand friends of Facebook and Twitter, according to the ‘BACARDÍ Togetherness’ survey.
Singaporeans should not just rely on technology to communicate with one another, but to make an effort to get together physically more often. This was revealed in the ‘BACARDÍ Togetherness’ survey conducted by BACARDÍ Singapore through their Facebook page.
According to the survey, 100% of Singaporeans feel that face-to-face conversations are better and more effective, when compared to communicating through SMS-ing or communicating on Instant messengers
Being too busy, and finding it hard to find the time to get everyone together are the most common reasons cited by Singaporeans for not being able to physically spend more time with friends, family and loved ones.
The results from the ‘BACARDÍ Togetherness’ survey in Singapore, echo similar sentiments from global surveys conducted by BACARDÍ. According to Canada’s ‘BACARDÍ Together’ poll, Canadians crave for the joys of face-to-face connections with 69% admitting that one can only have meaningful relationships in-person.
Participants in the ‘BACARDÍ Together Index’ study conducted in the United States, feel that “social media togetherness” is not the same as “in-person togetherness” and that social media togetherness is quicker and less emotionally meaningful.
“BACARDÍ believes in removing barriers to enable people to get together, have fun and experience the joy of real human connections, and this is what the ‘BACARDÍ Together’ campaign is all about,” shares Bernard Yeo, Sales & Marketing Director, Bacardi-Martini Singapore.
