Equinix, GIC finish $1.3b joint development of data centres
Six new facilities will be located all over Europe.
Since the inception of the joint venture in July, data centre company Equinix and Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC, have completed their $1.3b development and operation of xScale data centres, the company announced.
The six data centres will be located in key cities in Europe on some of Equinix’s existing International Business Exchange (IBX) campuses, with two sites in London, two sites in Frankfurt, and one each in Amsterdam and Paris.
xScale data centres will serve the workload deployment needs of a targeted group of hyperscale companies, including the world’s largest cloud service providers.
The data centre also aims to further streamline companies’ rapid growth by complementing their operational requirements and consolidate access points into one global provider.
A tie-in with the data centre will also offer access to Equinix’s comprehensive suite of interconnection and edge services, increasing the speed of connections to their existing and future enterprise customers.
