5G trials will be conducted at the PSA Living Lab in Pasir Panjang Terminal in Q3.
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and National Research Foundation (NRF) have set aside $40m to push through 5G technology trials for enterprise use-cases and to create a series of new open testbeds.
The initiative also aims to boost R&D efforts in 5G, which is looking to enhance cybersecurity as well. IMDA will explore clusters such as maritime operations, urban mobility, smart estates, Industry 4.0, consumer applications and government applications.
Trials will be conducted at the PSA Living Lab in Pasir Panjang Terminal in Q3, and is expected to last for 18 months.
In addition, IMDA has awarded $1.5m for eight projects included in the Smart Estates Call for Innovation Solutions (CFIS) with Ascendas-Singbridge and JTC. Such projects include the use of 3D Digital Twin technology, and a cloud-based platform to enable quick searches for
assets through a visual tour.
