M1 cuts the ribbon on free data roaming in Malaysia and Indonesia
Bundles could be usable for up to 50 days.
There are two things that could be said about Singaporeans--they love to travel, and they can’t leave without their phones. Capitalising on this, M1 announced today that they can now use their existing local data bundles in Malaysia and Indonesia.
According to a statement by M1, the data roaming feature would be possible through M1’s partner networks Celcom and XL Axiata in Malaysia and Indonesia respectively.
“Many Singaporeans travel regularly to our neighbouring countries for work, to do some shopping, and enjoy other leisure activities, and we want to give them the convenience of using the same mobile line wherever they are,” said Subramaniam, M1’s chief marketing officer.
Data bundles range from $5 to $30 with 1GB to 3GB of data. M1 is also boasting of Singapore’s best-value prepaid top up.
“Mobile data usage has grown alongside smartphone penetration within the prepaid segment, with average monthly prepaid data usage approaching 1GB1. With the 2GB data bundle on M1’s Super Data plan, prepaid users will find it even more convenient and cost-effective to get the most of their smartphones,” Subramaniam added.
