M1 partners with Stripe to offer phone reservations via WhatsApp

It is the company’s first foray into conversational commerce. 

M1 Limited has partnered with financial platform Stripe to enable select subscribers to reserve and secure phones via WhatsApp.

M1 Corporate Individual (CORI) scheme subscribers are now able to make a deposit and reserve a handset of their choice through WhatsApp.

“This is M1’s first foray into conversational commerce. Currently, M1 CORI customers can access deals, product launches, and personalised updates in-real time via WhatsApp,” said Mustafa Kapasi, chief operating officer of M1. 

M1 first offered WhatsApp as a sales channel in August 2023. At the time, customers could only register their interest and receive first-hand updates in popular models.
