NBN CEO Stephen Rue to lead Optus
Coinciding with Rue’s appointment is the introduction of a new governance model.
Optus, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singtel, has tapped Stephen Rue, the CEO of Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN), to lead the company.
Until RUe comes on board, Michel Venter will continue as interim CEO of Optis.
Rue initially joined NBN in 2014 as Chief Financial Officer and ascended to the position of CEO in 2018.
Apart from appointing a new CEO, Optus also introduced a new governance model for the company.
Under the model, the Optus CEO and executive will report to the Optus Board. Rue will join the board, which includes Paul O’Sullivan, Yuen Kuan Moon, John Arthur, Lim Cheng Cheng and Michael Venter, and report to the chairman.
The board and executives will work together to reset strategy and rebuild customers' trust in the Optus brand.
