The next frontier: SingTel eyes big data analytics expansion
Allots $2b into digital life investments.
SingTel appears to be gunning for big data analytics expansion, after allotting a hefty $2b for Group Digital Life investments.
A report by Maybank Kim Eng revealed that the bulk of this allocation remains unutilized, and that SingTel may well spend it in Big Data analytics.
According to the report, “We think it likely that the next investment will be in the big data analytics space, given that SingTel has already acquired capability in mobile advertising (via Amobee, for which they paid USD321m in 2012) and mobile video (via Vuclip, the world’s largest mobile video company).”
Here’s more:
The capability to analyse big data will allow SingTel to offer marketing organizations valuable information such as footfall patterns and profiles of crowds for specific locations, and insights on location patterns and consumption behaviours of specific population segments.
SingTel believes the conclusions and insights that can be drawn will be extremely valuable to organizations that want to maximise their marketing spend.
