Over 3 in 5 Singaporeans click on mobile ads they see: survey

Singaporeans are well-known to be gadget-savvy, with an average user spending 3.7 hours a day on mobile devices for personal use.

According to a study by Yahoo and Mindshare, 87% of those surveyed use their mobile devices for conducting pre-purchase research, revealing that users are actively engaging with brands on their devices. 46% of the respondents continue to engage with a brand after the purchase, with activities like sharing photos/ video of the product they bought, recommendations, writing a review etc.

Meanwhile, mobile advertising is seeing positive engagement with 70% of the users intentionally click on the mobile ads. For Singaporeans, an ‘ideal ad’: has promotions/ discount coupons: 61%, has rewards via ad interactions: 36%, teaches something new: 29%, keeps users up to date: 28%; is fun/ provides a short break: 23%.

M-commerce is also on the rise with 72% for banking transactions and 74% for making some form on online purchase.
