Singtel, Viettel ink deal for Vietnam-Singapore submarine cable
The VTS will also be expanded in Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Singtel and Viettel Solutions signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to plan and develop the Vietnam-Singapore Cable System submarine cable system (VTS), directly connecting the two counties.
Under the MOU, both parties will develop the VTS cable using advanced wavelength division multiplexing technology available today.
This will make the VTS the first and most advanced cable jointly established by the two largest operators in Vietnam and Singapore and will be the shortest cable directly connecting the two countries.
The project will boost Viettel’s international connectivity by hundreds of Tbps, enhancing high-speed capacity, redundancy, and security while opening new southern connection routes.
The primary trunk landing stations will be in Vietnam, managed by Viettel, and in Singapore, managed by Singtel.
Scheduled to be operational in 2Q27, the VTS Cable will have branch landing stations in Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
