StarHub locks horns with M1 over extremely cheap mobile plans
Prices will be slashed to stay in the game.
StarHub is expected to go toe-to-toe with M1 when it comes to offering extremely cheap SIM-only mobile plans, according to a report by DBS.
In the last week of July, M1 launched a new mobile plan at at only $30 a month for a 5GB data bundle, 300 minutes of talktime and 1,000 SMS and MMS.
Consumers need to sign a one-year contract to avail of the plan. StarHub currently offers a similar 5GB plan
at $66.32 per month.
"[Prices] could be possibly be reduced, in our view," said DBS.
StarHub's Q2 net profit came in at $99m, slightly below consensus expectations due to higher handset subsidy costs.
