StarHub primed to reap the rewards of tech gadget bounce
A net profit of SGD85m is expected, boost by demands in mobile data, Pay TV and fibre broadband.
According to the research from Maybank Kim Eng, StarHub will report 1QFY12/12 results on 4 May. They expect a net profit of SGD85m, up 8% QoQ from an adjusted SGD79m, driven by improvements in mobile, data, Pay TV and fibre broadband.
Furthermore, Maybank Kim Eng's research team expects margins to bounce back in 1Q12 on lower handset subsidies and marketing costs. In addition, mobile should grow QoQ despite lower seasonality on higher value plans and greater data usage, while Pay TV should get a kick from a price hike last year.
Signs that StarHub will utilise its currently under-utilised balance sheet to raise its dividend payout this year is also on alert.
