Inmarsat appoints two non-executive directors
Dr Abe Peled and Simon Bax have different and complementary expertise which will bring an additional valuable perspective to boardroom discussions.
Inmarsat announced the appointments of Dr Abe Peled and Simon Bax as non-executive directors to its Board.
Dr Peled will become a member of the Nominations Committee; Mr Bax will become a Remuneration Committee member.
Dr Peled spent from 1995 to 2012 with NDS Group plc, a digital pay-TV company, which was part of the News Corp group and was most recently bought by Cisco. He was chairman and CEO of NDS Group plc from 2004 to 2012. Since August 2012, Dr Peled has been senior vice president Strategy, Video and Collaboration Group, Cisco. He is also a senior advisor on technology businesses to UK private equity firm, Permira. He has previous senior management experience with IBM and Elron. Dr Peled has a BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing. In March 2013, Dr Peled was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Digital TV Europe.
Mr Bax was, from 2008 to 2013, CEO of Encompass Digital Media Inc which provides technical services to broadcasters, cable networks and government agencies. Previous senior management experience was with Pixar Animation Studios and Fox Filmed Entertainment. Mr Bax has a degree in History and is a chartered accountant. He is a non-executive director of MobiTV and a trustee and member of a number of other organisations.
