Singtel appoints Mark Chong as group chief technology officer
And Arthur Lang was named CEO International.
Singtel announced key appointments to strengthen its management team.
With effect from 1 April, 2017, Mr Mark Chong will be appointed Group Chief Technology Officer (GCTO) to lead technology strategy and innovations across the Group. A Singtel veteran of over 20 years, Mr Chong has held various key leadership positions, most notably EVP Networks in Singapore and COO of AIS in Thailand. He relinquishes his current role of CEO International from 1 April.
Also with effect from 1 April 2017, Mr Arthur Lang will be appointed Singtel’s CEO International. He will be responsible for the growth of the Group’s regional associates across India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. He joins the Group on 9 January 2017 as CEO International (Designate). Mr Lang was most recently the Group CFO of CapitaLand Limited where he oversaw financial reporting, treasury, tax, risk management and internal audit, global strategic investments and investor relations.
He was also responsible for its real estate investment management business. Mr Lang was previously at Morgan Stanley where he was variously co-head of the Southeast Asia investment banking division and COO of the Asia Pacific investment banking division.
Meanwhile, after almost 50 years of outstanding and committed service, Mr Tay Soo Meng will relinquish his role as Group CTO. Having been instrumental in helping Singtel secure network leadership in Singapore and enhancing network coverage in Australia, Mr Tay will take on an advisory role so that Singtel can continue to tap his wealth of experience and knowledge.
