Grab launches Indonesian Tech Center for MSME digitisation
Currently, only 16% of Indonesian MSMEs are digitised.
Grab said the Tech Center will serve as Grab’s regional innovation hub dedicated to building technology for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Southeast Asia, located at Gama Tower, with over nine floors and a 12,000 sq m space in total.
Additionally, the tech center will concentrate on the research, design, and test of tools and technology for the Indonesian MSME field first, which will then be exported to other markets in SEA.
With more than 64 million MSMEs, of which only 16% is digitised, Indonesia is the perfect testbed for Grab’s goals.
“The Grab Tech Center houses teams focused on GrabKios, Merchant and GrabFood research and development, with a full suite of functions necessary to conduct end-to-end product development,” added Grab. “These include product management, product design, product analytics, software engineering and quality assurance engineering.”
The organisation also plans to bolster staffing in backend engineering, mobile front-end engineering as well as site reliability engineering.
