Singapore launches double-deck electric buses

The Land Transport Authority says it is committed to a 100% clean energy bus fleet by 2040.

The Land Transport Authority announced that the first 10 electric double-decker buses are now joining the 15 electric single-deck buses already in service.

This is all in part of LTA’s commitment to a 100% cleaner energy bus fleet by 2040.

60 buses were acquired under a tender awarded in October 2018 comprising 20 single-deck buses each from BYD and ST Engineering Land Systems, and 10 single and double deck buses from the Yutong-NARI Consortium.

The 60 buses are expected to be fully deployed by 2021.
