SMRT adds wheelchair access to 3 more bus services
Half of its basic bus services have WAB features.
According to a release, SMRT will be introducing Wheelchair Accessible Bus (WAB) services on three more service routes: Services 902, 965 and 969. These improvements will be implemented from 7 July 2013.
Following this round of improvements, there will be a total of 34 WAB services (or 50% of SMRT’s basic bus services) operated by SMRT Buses. Every SMRT WAB can accommodate one to two wheelchairs depending on the bus model, and a blue WAB decal is prominently displayed at the front of the bus to indicate that it is a WAB service.
In addition, there are two decals on the front doors seeking passengers’ understanding and patience while our Bus Captain attends to a passenger in wheelchair first. We appreciate passengers’ cooperation and patience on this.
