Thanks to robust passenger vehicle sales.
Singapore-listed automobile company Tata Motors was on a roll in September after recording an 8% growth in vehicle sales to 48,648 in September, 42,961 units of which were domestically sold.
In a statement, Tata said it has continued to witness year-on-year growth in certain key segments in September 2016, with the company’s export business growing by 29%, passenger car sales grew by 27% and LCVs (light commercial vehicles) continued to grow by 19%," the group said.
“Cumulative sales (including exports) of the company for the fiscal was at 258,598 numbers, higher by 7% over 242,562 vehicles, sold last year,” the company said.
Its passenger vehicles segment has continued to see growth with a 24% increase in vehicle sales to 14,601. This is due to the strong demand for the recently launched Tiago.
However, overall domestic commercial vehicle sales were lower by 2% at 28,360.
Meanwhile, the group's sales from exports posted a 29% growth, climbing from 4,402 vehicles sold last year to 5,687.
