11 defective trains repaired and returned to Singapore
They are part of the 26 trains shipped back to China for repairs.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said 11 of 13 defective trains that have been shipped back to China are now repaired and returned to Singapore. Ten are put into passenger service, whilst the 11th train is still undergoing testing.
Together with SMRT, LTA has been closely monitoring the condition of these trains, and there have been no defects detected since, it said in a statement.
LTA has been working with SMRT and Kawasaki-Sifang to rectify the defects found on 26 North-South and East-West Line trains. To date, 13 of the affected trains have been shipped back to the factory in China for repairs.
“We are working closely with Kawasaki-Sifang to complete rectification works of the remaining trains by December 2019,” LTA added.
