CCCS begins in-depth review of Grab’s proposed acquisition of Trans-cab
The review ensures that the acquisition will not raise competition concerns.
The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) commenced the Phase 2 review of the proposed acquisition of Trans-cab by GrabRentals, following the submission of relevant documents by both parties to the commission on 25 January.
During the Phase 1 review of the acquisition, which concluded on 16 October 2023, the CCCS failed to confirm if the acquisition would not raise any competition concerns.
On 31 October 2023, Grab gave a commitments proposal, which CCCS said "did not adequately address" the competition concern surrounding the proposed acquisition.
For the Phase 2 review of the acquisition, Grab may present a revised commitments proposal subject to CCCS’ approval.
