ComfortDelGro Bus, NTU roll out first real-time ridership tracker for electric buses
The buses have a display system to show bus routes and stops to commuters.
A first interactive smart mobility experience centre (SMEC) was launched for the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore’s (NTU Singapore) fleet of new electric buses.
In a statement, ComfortDelGro Bus and NTU Singapore announced its collaboration to deploy these buses with state-of-the-art systems, which can view real-time ridership, location of buses, and electrification progress of the fleet.
The new buses have telematics devices, which include a GPS, battery management hardware, and data collection capabilities.
The buses have a passenger information display system which provides commuters information on the bus route and bus stop.
With these buses, the SMEC allows staff to monitor deployment and performance of the electric bus fleet.
“Data collected through the electric bus fleet would also be used to understand ridership trends to make predictive interventions for a smoother commuting experience for the NTU community. For example, more buses may be deployed to specific routes when there are spikes in ridership which will also help mitigate overcrowding at bus stops,” it said.
