ComfortDelGro imposes taxi fare hike to help drivers defray higher operating costs
The company’s fleet, except limousine taxis, will see a $0.50 increase in flag-down fares.
ComfortDelGro will improve fare increase and new surcharge horse starting 6 a.m. on 13 December to help its drivers defray higher operating costs.
In an announcement, the taxi operator said its fleet, excluding limousine taxis, will see a $0.50 increase in flag-down fares and a one-cent increase in distances and waiting time fares.
The adjustment covers Hyundai i40, Hyundai Ioniq, Hyundai Kona, BYD E6, Toyota Prius, and Toyota Sienta taxis.
The flag-down fares for limousine taxis will remain the same following its revision on 30 November 2023, whilst distances and waiting time fares will be adjusted to $0.36 from $0.35.
With the adjustment, the estimated fare for a 10km off-peak normal taxi trip will increase by an estimated 6.8% or $0.94 to $14.74 from $13.80.
Meanwhile, ComfortDelGro extended the evening peak hour surcharge for all taxis by one hour to cover the period from 5:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., effective Monday through Sunday, including public holidays.
The company will also implement a new peak hour surcharge from 10:00 a.m. to 1:59 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
