ComfortDelGro invests $5.4m in Tel Aviv-based teleoperation software developer

The investment is set to boost the company’s AV capabilities.

ComfortDelGro Corporation (ComfortDelGro) invested $5.4m (US$4m) in Ottopia, a Tel Aviv-based company which develops teleoperation software for autonomous vehicles (AV).

In a bourse filing, the company said it will make the investment through its US$100 million venture capital fund.

ComfortDelGro said Ottopia’s software can be integrated into its future AV Operations Centre, making it an “essential tool that would enable the adoption of AV technology in smart urban mobility.”

“This latest investment is part of the group’s strategy to grow the business, especially in the core land transport areas of smart urban mobility, fleet electrification, automotive engineering technologies, as well as adjacent disciplines such as clean technology, smart logistics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and robotics,” ComfortDelGro said.

In March last year, ComfortDelGro established the $30m AV CoE to focus on research and development of AV-related capabilities over the next five years.
