Daily Briefing: Government to offer $77m support for taxis; Neil road conservation shophouses for sale

And a Fu Lu Shou complex office portfolio has been launched for sale via EOI.

Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Ministry of Transport (MOT) has announced that it will roll out a $77m point-to-point support package to help taxi and private-hire car drivers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Government will contribute $45m, with the remaining provided by taxi and private-hire car operators.

The package comprises multiple components. The largest portion is a $73m special relief fund that will assist active full-time taxi and private-hire car drivers defray business costs. $41m of the package will come from government contributions, whilst and $32m from operators.

The taxi and private-hire car drivers have reported a significant reduction in the number of trips they're able to make per day, according to Janil Puthucheary, senior minister of State for Transport.

Colliers International has announced that it is inviting offers for the purchase of a pair of conservation shophouses in Neil Road, and three other shophouses with an adjoining vacant land in Jasmine Road.

The sale is via two separate Expression of Interest (EOI) exercises.

The pair of adjoining two-storey conservation shophouses with attic at 65/67 Neil Road has an indicative price of $15.57m which translates to about $2,800 per square foot (psf) based on the total gross floor area (GFA) of 5,563.7 sq ft (512.2 sq m).

The three shophouses, comprising a mix of two- and three-storey properties as well as an adjoining vacant land in Jasmine road have a guide price of $22.88m, which works out to about $1,185 psf. 

The EOI exercise for 65/67 Neil Road will close at 3 pm on 12 March 2020.
