E-road pricing on hold till 28 June
Charges will be modified depending upon congestion.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that the electronic road pricing (ERP) will continue to remain suspended till 28 June, a press release revealed. This is an extension of LTA’s prior decision on suspending the charges for reduced traffic on road.
LTA will start the ERP review process from 2June as Singapore reopens its economy gradually. The new charging rate (if any) will be in effect from 29 June.
The official statement said, “In line with ERP’s purpose as a congestion management tool, LTA will resume the ERP review process from 2 June 2020 and monitor traffic speeds and congestion levels. This will enable LTA to identify locations with congestion and determine if ERP charges are required.”
During this COVID-19 situation, LTA has also decided to adjust the rates every four weeks rather than their traditional quarterly-basis review. The move aims to make them more responsive to changes in traffic conditions and manage congestion more effectively.
LTA will revert to their original quarterly-basis review system once the situation gets better.
Expected to continue for 28 more days, ERP charging at all gantries had been relaxed from 6 April in tandem with the circuit breaker period.
