Grab inks partnership with Singapore's Premier Taxis
It welcomed 3,000 Silvercab drivers onboard its platform.
After successfully raising US$750 million worth of funds to support its services expansion, Southeast Asia's ride-hailing company Grab unveiled its partnership with Singapore's Premier Taxis to bring all Silvercab drivers onto the Grab platform.
According to a joint statement by Grab and Premier, more than 3,000 drivers in Singapore will benefit from more ride bookings as they gain immediate access to Grab's passenger base and technology.
Premier Taxi Managing Director Lim Chong Boo said this would improve the overall experience for both cab drivers and passengers.
"Through this partnership with Grab, we hope to give our drivers more ride bookings and increase their income. Passengers will benefit through having access to a bigger pool of taxis with the click of a button," he noted.
As part of the partnership, Silvercab drivers will undergo training and will receive subsidised smartphones that are compatible with the Grab app.
Meanwhile, Grab Singapore Head Lim Kell Jay said this has been Grab’s second partnership with a local taxi operator in two months.
He also pointed out that this partnership will widen Grab's reach to more than 40,000 drivers across its network in Singapore.
