Grab launches beta trial for door-to-door delivery service GrabExpress
The beta will be limited the eastern part of Singapore to the eastern fringe of the Central Business District.
Grab will launch a beta trial for its delivery service GrabExpress in Singapore to serve the growing demand for instant delivery of parcels, an announcement revealed.
The beta will start on 23 October and run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
The service will be available amongst Grab users and will be limited to delivery from the eastern part of Singapore to the eastern fringe of the Central Business District, according to the announcement. Areas covered will include Changi, Paya Lebar, Marine Parade, Kallang, Bugis and Esplanade.
“The beta version of this service, which makes use of GrabFood’s motorcycle fleet, would also provide greater income opportunities for the delivery-partners, especially during off-peak hours,” Grab said.
Users can access the service through the Grab app wherein they will key in the recipients details and pick up location and make the payment through Grab’s e-wallet, GrabPay. Delivery will be completed within 2 hours of the booking and can be tracked in real time, according to the company.
Prices will start from $6 per delivery with an additional $1 per km delivery distance, and beta prices will not be subject to additional surcharges like Grab’s ride hailing services.
Singapore will be the fifth country within Grab’s ASEAN network to have GrabExpress following Indonesia, Philipppines, Thailand and Vietnam.
