Grab rolls out new feature to track hygiene compliance
Malpractice of good personal hygiene may result in suspension of user accounts.
Grab has unveiled its GrabProtect feature to enforce higher safety and hygiene standards in the ride-hailing industry, a press release confirms. Grab drivers, delivery-partners, and passengers will have to confirm that they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 by filling out a form. Drivers and delivery-partners will also be prompted to post a selfie as proof that he or she is wearing a mask. Riding on the front seat will be disallowed as part of social distancing.
If either the drivers and delivery-partners or the passengers seem unwell, the alternate parties can cancel the rides without any penalty. Both sides may also do the same if either is not wearing a mask.
The in-app rating and feedback features are modified for users to provide feedback to riders after every interaction. Both parties may report health and hygiene-related concerns directly to their help centre. A total of 100,000 face masks and sanitisers have also been made available at different locations for drivers and delivery-partners.
The press release also stated that Grab will continue to evaluate measures and adapt to the evolving situation in the coming weeks.
