Grab unveils 3 new goals for inclusivity and sustainability
To support one of its goals, Grab will launch a programme called Grab Access.
Grab has unveiled three new goals to drive further sustainable and inclusive growth in Southeast Asia.
The first of these goals is to double the number of marginalised individuals earning income on its platform by 2025 through a regional programme called Grab Access to be first rolled out in Indonesia this year.
The super app said the programme will lower the barriers for marginalised ideals to join Grab by providing them with "special financial and training support for a period of time to help them adapt and ease into the platform."
Grab's second goal is to increase the percentage of women on its leadership bench from the current 34% to 40% by 2030.
To achieve this goal, Grab said it will continue to invest in mentorship and leadership programmes to support career development for female employees; create more comprehensive support networks for females in the workforce; and invest in proactive measures such as data-driven studies to help managers catch and address any unconscious biases that may occur in candidate interviews and performance review processes.
Lastly, Grab said it aims to be carbon neutral by 2040 by "transitioning 100% of its ride-hailing fleet in Singapore to low emission vehicles by 2030," amongst others.
The ride-hailing company said it will also work on transitioning all premises in which it operates or is under its direct control to renewable energy by 2030.
Other plans unveiled by Grab to achieve carbon neutrality are the following:
- Develop artificial intelligence and machine learning to further optimise resource efficiency across all areas of its business and operations, such as order batching and ride-sharing to reduce unnecessary travel;
- Work with suppliers and vendors within its value chain to minimise emissions;
- Invest in high-quality carbon offsets in Southeast Asia and explore carbon capture solutions; and
- Educate and empower consumers to manage their environmental footprint by opting for mobility options with lower emissions or carbon offsets.
