In-car goods provider Cargo ties up with Grab

Drivers can earn as much as $250 monthly by offering retail products to passengers.

Grab has teamed up with in-car goods and services provider Cargo giving passengers the option of choosing from a wide range of premium retail products like snacks, beverages and beauty items when riding in Grab&Go-equipped vehicles.

On the other hand, drivers can earn additional income that ranges from around $75-$250 monthly each time a passenger uses Grab&Go, regardless of whether the passenger made a purchase or took something for free during the car ride.

“The idea behind Grab&Go is both to give passengers access to daily essentials and to surprise them with complimentary, discovery products. The majority of complimentary products are full size products,” Cargo founder Jeff Cripe told Singapore Business Review.

Passengers first order products through Grab&Go’s digital menu on their smartphone and the additional cost is added to the passenger’s final fare. Once the vehicle is stopped, the driver passes the passenger their products.

“Cargo’s proprietary inventory management system manages all drivers’ inventory in real time and automatically notifies drivers to pick up tailored replenishment inventory at the Grab driver hub in Midview City, Singapore,” Cripes added.

The partnership with Grab is a mutual step forward for Cargo as the two companies share the vision of in-car commerce and ride sharing economy.

“It was less about choosing Singapore and more about choosing Grab––who is headquartered in Singapore––to be our partner,” he added. “In Grab we found a partner that both shared our vision for the role of in-car commerce in the future of the rideshare economy.”
