Jurong Country Club chosen as High Speed Rail terminal site
The site will be acquired and redeveloped.
The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) terminus will be located at the current site of Jurong Country Club (JCC) in Jurong East, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) revealed today.
The JCC site was chosen due to its high connectivity. It has close proximity to the East-West and North-South MRT Lines at Jurong East MRT station, and will also be close to the Jurong Region Line and Cross Island Line, two new MRT lines being planned around the area.
JCC's proximity to the future integrated transport hub in Jurong East and its proximity to Jurong Gateway were also factors in the decision.
"The decision to site the HSR terminus at Jurong East dovetails with the Government’s plans to develop Jurong East. This could include introducing new mixed-use developments and community facilities at the surrounding area to serve Jurong residents, HSR passengers and visitors," the SLA stated in a release.
The SLA has gazetted the acquisition of the affected land today.
