LTA to increase COE quota of non-electric cars to 10,431
The adjustment would expand the total quota to 10,431.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is increasing its monthly quota of certificates of entitlement (COEs) for non-electric vehicles to reduce the volatility of the certificates' supply.
With the adjustment, the total COE quota for May to July would increase to 10,431 from 9,575.
Over the next few quarters, LTA plans to increase its COE quota for Category A vehicles—or non-electric cars with up to 1,600cc and up to 97kW Maximum Power Output (MPO) engines, as well as electric automobiles with up to 110kW MPO—by 24% beginning from the second bidding exercise taking place on15 May to July.
LTA is also adjusting the COE quota for Category B vehicles—non-electric cars with 1,600cc-above and 97kW-above MPO engines and electric automobiles with 110kW-above MPO—by 15% for the remaining five bidding exercises for the quarter.

The regulatory board would also move up the guaranteed deregistration of 5-year non-extendable COEs that are due to expire when the projected supply is higher.
However, the adjustment would not change the zero Vehicle Growth Rate on the overall car population as the LTA identified specific vehicles in the registry with non-extendable COEs.
"After deregistering the identified vehicles in the future, their quota would not return to the pool for bidding," LTA added.
