LTA to kick off installation of on-board units under ERP 2.0 system on Nov 1
The agency expects to complete installation by the end of 2025.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will begin installation of the new on-board unit (OBU) under the ERP 2.0 system on 1 November.
The agency will install the OBU in phases, starting with fleet vehicles, followed by motorcycles and all other vehicles.
Vehicle owners will receive a notification from LTA when it is their turn, with instructions on scheduling an installation appointment.
The new OBU will have a touchscreen display which provides ERP-related information, such as ERP charges and balances. It will also provide road and traffic updates, such as locations of Silver Zones, School Zones, speed cameras, and bus lanes.
Eventually, the OBU will also support additional features such as real-time traffic alerts for road or lane closures, accidents, or heavy traffic, and payment of roadside parking and tolls at the checkpoints for Singapore-registered cars.
Motorists who wish to opt out of installing the touchscreen display can access OBU information via smartphone applications.
LTA expects to complete the OBU exercise by the end of 2025.
Installation is free if completed within the two months stated in the notification. More details about the installation for individual vehicles will be announced early next year.
