
Oct 25 SMRT service disruption affected 10,500 passengers
SMRT Circle Line back to full operation today.
SMRT on their website announced that passengers affected by disruption on 25 Oct 2012 can seek a refund at SMRT MRT stations within next 14 days.
A service disruption happened on the Circle Line yesterday at 10:26pm and SMRT said that the management responded by activating more than 280 SMRT staff. This included 49 Service Leaders who were recalled to provide bus bridging services, 30 engineers who were
on-site for recovery operations, as well as 100 staff at the operations control centres, and 100 customer service staff members were on-the-ground assisting passengers.
Also, SMRT said that bus bridging services were activated at 10:39pm between Harbourfront and Dhoby Ghaut stations and the first bus arrived at Dhoby Ghaut at about 11pm. A total of 49 buses were deployed. Free public bus services by SMRT and SBST between Harbourfront and Dhoby Ghaut stations were also made available thanks to SBS Transit for assistance.
SMRT said that About 10,500 passengers were affected by the incident last night.
According to SMRT they were able to detrain most passengers onto platforms. However, one train was stalled between Bayfront and Promenade station and management had to detrain all 102 passengers at 10:48pm. This was completed by 11:07pm.
