Public transport operators have applied to increase bus and train fares due to rising costs.
A ComfortDelgro spokesperson said SBS Transit has submitted an application to the Public Transport Council seeking bus and rail fare adjustments.
Rising fuel and energy costs as well as expenses incurred in the firm's fleet renewal exercise were the reasons cited, according to a Reuters report.
SMRT has also requested an adjustment to fares on its trains and buses.
This is in accordance to the maximum fare adjustment formula set by the government-appointed Fare Review Mechanism Committee in 2005.
Results of the applications are expected to be announced in the fourth quarter of 2011.
