Premier's 2,000-strong taxi fleet to join RYDE network

Premier’s taxi drivers will be able to take jobs through their screens.

Ride-hailing app RYDE partnered with taxi operating company Premier to add a taxi fleet of 2,000 to its driver pool, according to an announcement.

Under this technical collaboration, Premier taxi drivers will use their pre-installed advanced Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) to accept both fixed fare and taxi jobs from the Ryde network.

Premier taxi drivers can also now view and accept real-time jobs via their MDT screens. “Having this integrated system improves the booking flow for taxi drivers. Drivers can now make better decisions on accepting various jobs with enhancement to their road safety. Alternatively, they can also use the Ryde driver app to accept job bookings,” RYDE said.

In conjunction with the new partnership, Ryde will also be reducing service fees to zero for all RydeX and RydeTAXI services. However, a 3% transaction fee is charged for Rydepay jobs to cover transaction costs. There is no transaction fee for cash trips.

The driver incentives will last for a period of 3 months until the end of May.
