Prime Taxi hails Grab as exclusive app partner in Singapore
1,000 of its cabbies will be able to access the Grab platform.
With its often busy streets, Singapore has seen demands for mobile ride hailing rise up. Cashing on this hype, Southeast Asia's leading ride-hailing company Grab forged a partnership with Singapore's Prime Taxi.
The partnership will enable all 1,000 Prime Taxi drivers to access passenger bookings via the Grab platform.
For Prime Taxi General Manager Neo Chee Yong this is in part of the company's strategy of innovating to bring benefits to the taxi industry.
"This partnership will extend Grab’s technology to Prime Taxi’s drivers, enhancing the efficiency of the fleet and allowing drivers to make better use of their time on the road so we can better serve the public,” Neo said.
To commence the partnership, Prime drivers will undergo training to help them get to know the Grab app and learn about the app's safety guidelines and expected code of conduct.
These drivers will also be provided with subsidised smartphones.
Meanwhile, GrabTaxi Singapore Head Melvin Vu said the tie-up makes Grab the most diversified transportation platform with access to a more varied and extensive dataset to study the island’s transportation patterns.
"Ultimately, our goal is to make the taxi industry even more competitive, better fulfil commuters’ on-demand point-to-point travel needs, and drive towards Singapore’s car-lite vision,” Yu noted.
This marks Grab's third partnership with Singapore cab companies in within two months. It brings up Grab's network to over 40,000 drivers. Previously, it inked a deal with TransCab and Premier Taxis.
