Singapore to launch VTL with Malaysia

The service is expected to take effect on November 29.

A joint press release statement from the Prime Ministers of Malaysia and Singapore announced the implementation of a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between the two countries.

Singapore’s Changi Airport and Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport will be affected by this beginning November 29. Under the initiative, fully vaccinated travellers will be able to travel between the two countries and be subjected to COVID-19 tests instead of quarantine.

“Singapore and Malaysia enjoy deep, warm, and multi-faceted relations. I am very happy that both our countries are finally able to restart cross-border travel through the VTLs. This will help revive our economies, restore our people-to-people ties, and strengthen our bilateral relationship,” said PM Lee Hsien Loong.

The two PMs also reiterated the need to restore travel across the land links between both countries. According to the report, progress was also reported in ongoing talks for a similar scheme in travel across the Causeway and the Second Link.
