And NOL has higher volumes on intra-Asia and Asia-Europe routes to thank.

A Reuters report said NOL “carried 7 percent more cargo in the four weeks to June 3 from a year ago.”

NOL is said to have carried 228,000 forty-foot equivalent units during the four-week period, up from 212,600 FEUs a year ago.

Also in a statement NOL confirmed it has signed contracts with Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd to build 12 new container vessels.
