UK transport operator Go-Ahead takes over Loyang Bus Depot
It can now start preparing for operations.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has handed over the Loyang Bus Depot to UK bus operator Go-Ahead, according to a press release by LTA. The hand-over of the depot enables Go-Ahead to prepare for operations, as well as recruit and train captains and technicians, to ease the transition.
“Developed and funded by the Government, the Loyang Bus Depot is leased to Go-Ahead Group under the bus contracting model. The provision of bus depots, among other bus assets, lowers the entry barriers for new operators, which in turn facilitates greater contestability in the public bus industry,” said LTA.
Spanning 8.3 ha, Loyang Bus Depot can accommodate about 500 buses. Like the Bulim Bus Depot, it has facilities for bus repair and maintenance, and daily bus operations such as refuelling and washing. It also has facilities for bus captains such as rest areas, staff lounges, and a canteen.
