Sembcorp completes 2.8MWp rooftop solar farm on Supply Chain City
About 8,000 panels are expected to generate over 3,400MW hours of power annually.
Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) has completed the 2.8MWp solar farm that it has built atop Supply Chain City, the 2 million sqft flagship facility of YCH Group in Singapore. About 8,000 solar panels will provide renewable energy for the building and its tenants under a long-term contract, with surplus power channelled to the grid.
According to an announcement, the panels are expected to generate over 3,400MWh of power annually, which is enough to power more than 770 four-room HDB flats for a year. The farm is also expected to reduce 1.5 million kg of CO2e emissions a year.
YCH and Sembcorp will look to power other YCH’s facilities with solar energy, in countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Installed on the farm is Sembcorp’s monitoring system that has virtual safety cameras, live television feeds, and digital dashboards and alerts. It tracks factors such as weather conditions that affect the performance of solar panels, as well as onsite safety.
