Hyflux bags second contract from repeat customer

The contract will cover a seawater reverse osmosis desalination package in Iran.

Hyflux received a letter of intent from Asia Water Development Engineering Company (AWDEC) to award a second contract for a seawater reverse osmosis desalination package in Bandar Abbas, Iran.

According to an announcement, AWDEC intends to further award Hyflux a contract to design, manufacture and supply another desalination unit with similar specifications as the first plant to supply 200,000 cubic metres of water per day.

Both Hyflux and AWDEC shall make best efforts to agree on the mode, price, method of payment and other terms and conditions within two months.

The first project is part of the five desalination plants which AWDEC plans to build as part of the proposed Saghi Kosar (SAKO) Desalination and Power Plant in Bandar Abbas, Iran. The SAKO Desalination and Power Plant will feature five desalination plants able to produce 1,000,000 cubic metres of water per day, and a 300 - 400 MW power plant.

It was valued at €68.7m ($109.6m), with an additional €10.5m ($16.75m) for optional add-ons such as equipment and technical advisors.

“When completed, the SAKO Desalination and Power Plant will address the growing domestic water scarcity in Iran and serve industries in the South East of Iran,” Hyflux said in a previous announcement.
