Mitsubishi Power appoints new APAC CEO
Osamu Ono will oversee the company’s business growth in the region.
Osamu Ono has been appointed as the managing director and CEO of the Asia Pacific region for Mitsubishi Power, a major wholly owned subsidiary within the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group.
Ono assumed the position on 1 April at Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Asia Pacific (MHPS-AP), and he continues to helm the regional business after the company’s rebrand to Mitsubishi Power on 1 September.
Based at the regional headquarters in Singapore, Ono oversees planning and execution of the company’s business growth strategies across key markets such as Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Working closely with a team of 2,000, he is committed to delivering solutions, enabling energy security, and continued economic development for countries in the region as they transition to cleaner power systems.
Prior to assuming this role, Ono was Senior Executive Vice President and Head of the Philippines Branch of MHPS-AP.
Ono started his career at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in 1983 at the department for Domestic Nuclear Power Plants servicing Japanese utilities. During his time at MHI, he spent almost six years in India as the commercial and administrative manager for MHI’s first export gas turbine combined-cycle project. He joined MHPS upon its establishment in 2014.
