Premium bicycle technologies gain momentum in Singapore
There is a rising demand for premium bicycle technologies among Singaporean cyclists.
Singapore's cycling scene is witnessing a surge in demand for premium bicycle technologies, as revealed by Gary Gleason, Vice President of Sales at Wilderness Trail Bikes (WTB).
In an interview during the Taipei Cycle 2024, Gleason highlighted the growing preference for high-end products among Singaporean cyclists, underscoring a significant market trend.
Wilderness Trail Bikes (WTB), a global brand catering to 65 different countries, including Singapore, has observed a distinctive inclination towards premium biking gear in the city-state.
Partnering with ReEvolution Cyclists, a distributor in Singapore, WTB has tapped into a niche market catering to discerning mountain bike and gravel riders.
Gleason emphasised the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as tubeless tires and wheels, alongside deluxe saddles, among Singaporean cyclists. This trend reflects a shift towards sophisticated, performance-oriented products within the cycling community.
He noted that the market predominantly gravitates towards upscale offerings, indicating a robust economy and a growing interest in recreational pursuits like cycling.
Gleason identified smart accessories as the most popular among consumers. These accessories, designed to enhance the riding experience, address specific challenges faced by cyclists. From self-healing tubeless tires to ergonomically superior saddles, cyclists seek solutions that optimise comfort and performance.
