CAAS and WAI-SG partner to promote aviation careers for young women
Aviation-related education initiatives will be offered to young Singaporean women.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Women in Aviation Singapore Chapter (WAI-SG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to encourage more young women to pursue aviation careers.
Under the MoU, CAAS and WAI-SG will co-develop aviation-related activities and create resources on aviation career diversity to educate young women.
In addition, both partners will also provide young women opportunities to spark interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and aviation careers, as well as opportunities to build leadership skills, networks, and professional relationships in the sector.
The development of Changi Airport Terminal Five will boost Singapore’s aviation sector, increasing the airport’s capacity by 50 million passengers annually by the mid-2030s.
This expansion will create more aviation jobs, including pilots, air traffic controllers, engineers, and passenger service officers.
“As the aviation sector in Singapore continues to grow, we encourage more women to pursue a career in aviation and to seize the opportunity to grow with Singapore aviation and work with us to take it to even greater heights.” Han Kok Juan, Director-General of CAAS said.
