Darco upbeat on Taiwan electronics manufacturers
Company targets increasing market share by revenue in Taiwan's industrial sector to 45% from 30%.
Singapore water treatment firm Darco Water Technologies sees bright prospects for water recycling in the industrial sector of Taiwan, one of Asia's largest exporters of electronics products.
Fresh water for industrial use is increasingly scarce and costly in Taiwan, driving up demand for water recycling, chief executive officer and executive chairman Thye Kim Meng said.
Darco mainly engineers and operates water treatment systems for companies in the electronics, semiconductor and solar power manufacturing industries.
"The growth area is water treatment for the industrial sector as the sector is a major water user," Thye told Reuters in an interview for the Reuters Climate and Alternative Energy Summit.
Large volumes of water are used as a cleaning and cooling agent in the manufacturing processes.
Darco's customers include hard-drive makers Seagate Technology and Western Digital Corp, as well as chip maker Intel Corp.
