ST Electronics Tianjin is wholly owned by ST Electronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of ST Electronics.

Solutions will include advanced rail electronics systems, intelligent traffic, fleet management and telematics solutions, emergency response systems, smart metering and smart grid solutions and energy-efficient management systems for large installations.
ST Engineering said the new subsidiary will capitalise on opportunities presented by the fast urbanising cities in Northern China, such as Tianjin Binhai New Area, Qingdao, and Shi Jia Zhuang in Hebei, that have plans for extensive infrastructure development.
“Leveraging on our project experiences and employing the latest technologies, we have developed products and solutions that will help growing cities address the challenges of urbanisation and eco-sustainability. ST Electronics Tianjin will bring these solutions to our customers in Northern China," said ST Electronics President Lee Fook Sun.
ST Electronics has implemented a number of eco-enabling solutions in China, including rail electronics and traffic management solutions in Beijing, Guangzhou, Suzhou and Wuxi; security and resource management systems in Shenzhen and Hong Kong; intelligent building management systems in Shanghai, Suzhou and other cities as well as satellite communications solutions in various other locations.
In Singapore, ST Electronics together with Accenture was selected by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) to design and implement Phase 1 of its Intelligent Energy System (IES) pilot project. The project is an advanced metering infrastructure and smart grid pilot funded by the Government of Singapore and Singapore Power, a leading energy utility company in Asia Pacific.
The setup of ST Electronics Tianjin is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
